Jonathan Forrester’s 1970 C10 stepside was purchased new by his grandfather in Lithonia at Colquitt Chevrolet, and has been in the family ever since!
Thus C10 has plenty of go, with a 496ci big block Chevy under the hood. This big block motor features an Eagle Rods Forged rotating assembly, aluminum RHS 320cc heads, and a Holley Performance Mighty Demon 850-cfm carburetor, putting out about 600 horsepower. The 496ci motor is paired to a Richmond 5-Speed manual transmission, with a Ram Clutches Street/Strip clutch.
This pickup is sitting on the original frame from 1970, which has been notched in the rear and boxed with tubular crossmembers. The GM 12 bolt rear that this C10 rolls on has been narrowed 8”, and has an Eaton posi. Wilwood disc brakes are on all four corners, to allow enough stopping power for all that horsepower!
In the rear, this pickup has been lowered 7”, sitting on CA Chassis Works four-link, and Aldan American coil-overs. The front sits 10” lower, and has tubular control arms built by Jonathan, and is also riding on Aldan American coil-overs. Jonathan built the headers for this truck, and has 3.5" exhaust that goes through some Flowmaster mufflers and right out by the rear wheels. This C10 rolls on American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels, 16x8 in the front, and 17x11 in the back.
Jonathan did several modifications to the body of this pickup including: raising and reshaping the inner fenders to accommodate for the altitude adjustment, smooth the firewall, mini-tubs, painted the engine bay, and the hood hinges which he built himself. The bumpers on this pickup are not the original ones, but they sure look like they were meant for the truck! The front bumper was the rear bumper from a 70s Chevy van, and the rear bumper was the rear bumper from a ‘69 Camaro. Both bumpers have been modified to fit so well.
The interior, almost matching the exterior, looks awesome, and the stock bench that has been reupholstered by Jamie Cook of Finishline Interiors really sets it off. The steering wheel is from a 60s Chevelle, and sits on a shortened steering column. On top of everything else listed, this C10 has Vintage Air A/C too!
