James Henslee’s 1967 Chevy II looked nothing like it does now when he first saw it, but he had drive and a vision, and this is what happened! James rescued this Chevy II from a guy’s backyard, and it had been rotting away in the same spot since 1983.
This Nova underwent a complete rotisserie restoration, and has all new exterior panels. Mike Long at M&M Customs in Haleyville, AL did all the metal work required on this Nova, pretty much putting together a brand new car! The gorgeous Aston Martin Cinnabar Orange paint job and body work was done by Carl Harris, at Harris Restoration. The gorgeous black and orange custom interior on this Chevy II was done by Eric Speigel out of Speigel Upholstery in Cullman, AL. This Nova also has a TCI Engineering front clip.
This car has plenty of get up and go, and is powered by a 5.3 liter LS that was Dyno’d at 430 horsepower. The modern Chevy motor is mounted to a Bowler Transmissions Tremec T56 Magnum transmission. With all that power, you need plenty of stopping power too, and James has accomplished that with 13” rotors, and Wilwood disc brakes all the way around: 6 piston in the front, 4 piston in the rear. James’ Nova is riding on a Detroit Speed Quadralink rear, with a 9” housing, and it’s also minitubbed. Under it all, this hot rod is rolling on Budnik Tear Drop wheels, 18x8 in the front, 18x11 in the rear, and they’re wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
